young man, young woman
on opposite corners
waiting for green
Searching for Meaning and Surviving His Fifties
young man, young woman
on opposite corners
waiting for green
scary monster growls
devouring so much in flames
my fuel oil furnace
I wrote this haiku
while on another Zoom call
with my potted plants
pouring down my nose or causing the car to skid or rendering the driveway impassable or dripping from the ceiling or cancelling the ballgame or ruining the party or flooding the basement or slowing my commute
rain drops on the roof
percussive and persistent
welcome sounds today
storm raging within
to haiku five-seven-five
or to be unleashed
Saturday mornings
center of my universe
coffee with my love
morning sun softens
and the noon sun will sharpen
what nighttime obscures
the sun’s brilliant rays
bring forth the green of our youth
even in the fall
I regret so much
anger rages within me
sowing misery
when my end draws near
may it be as beautiful
as the falling leaves
